Carrera was founded in 1956 in Austria by Wilhelm Anger. The brand has become synonym with sports eyewear. In 1964 developed Mr. Anger the “Optyl material” which is a heat-hardened plastic weighing 20% less than acetate. Besides it is elastic and reduces allergic reactions.

In 1974 was the company named Carrera as we know it today. Same year they became partner with Ferdinand Alexander to develop the sunglasses collection Carrera Porsche Design.
